(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a fresh wave of violence in Pakistan, unknown militants have launched a bomb attack on a state-run school in Khyber Agency northwest of the country.

The bomb explosion ripped through the building of a primary school in Torkham area of Khyber Agency late Friday night, officials told Press TV.

The school building was completely destroyed as a result of the blast.

However, no casualties were reported as nobody was present in the building at the time of the blast.

Over the past several years, the militants have destroyed hundreds of schools in northwestern Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, previously known as North-West Frontier Province.

Describing education as 'unnecessary' or 'harmful' for girls, the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants have banned female education in northwestern Pakistan.

The move has affected thousands of girls there and caused the number of enrolments to drop dramatically.
